Join Us

The Lu-Ng Lab seeks intellectually curious and motivated postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, visiting scholars/students and undergraduate interns to join our group. Our research interests lie at the intersection of micro-nanotechnologies, multiomics analysis, and data driven approaches, aiming to develop effective analysis tools and therapeutic strategies for cancer, autoimmune diseases, and infectious diseases. Feel free to email us at luyuelab@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

Now recruiting

The lab is growing. We are recruiting for several new positions:

  • Postdoctoral Fellow

  • Research Engineer

  • Laboratory Manager

  • Research Assistant

We would especially like to hear from people with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Microfluidics and bioanalytical systems: microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip technologies, assay miniaturization, and automated sample processing

  • RNA and molecular analytics: RNA therapeutics, molecular assay development, and analytical method development and validation

  • Scientific instrumentation: optics, electronics, sensors, instrument design, and laboratory automation

  • Research operations and quality: laboratory management, quality systems, regulatory affairs, and program management

  • Software and data: scientific imaging, data systems, machine learning, and instrument software and control

You do not need to match every category. We are looking for people with real depth in at least one area, evidence that they can build or improve experiments, technologies, instruments, or research operations, and enthusiasm for working across disciplines.

We are entering an exciting new stage of growth. People who join now will have a real opportunity to help shape the projects, technologies, workflows, and team culture we build next.

Formal University of Utah application links will be posted shortly. In the meantime, please email your CV to luyuelab@gmail.com, together with the role that interests you and a few sentences about one project or accomplishment you are particularly proud of.

Beyond these openings we are always glad to hear from outstanding postdoctoral and graduate candidates. Details for each route are below.

Postdoctoral Fellows

Multiple postdoctoral fellow positions are available immediately. Applicants are expected to have an excellent track record with expertise in at least one and preferably multiple areas including bioengineering, immunology, micro/nano fabrication, and bioinformatics. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Biological Science, Biochemistry, Engineering, Medicine, Chemistry, Immunology or a closely related discipline. We seek applicants who are highly motivated, open-minded, creative, intellectually curious, and share our passion for translational medicine.

Successful candidates will lead highly innovative projects under our recent NIH Director’s New Innovator Award (DP2), where we seek to monitor the influence of environmental exposures on human health through EV analysis. Postdoctoral scholars in our lab will also have opportunities to participate in our ongoing efforts in Type 1 Diabetes, lung cancer, long COVID, multiple sclerosis, and Alzheimer's disease.

Competitive salaries and benefit plans will be offered.

Those interested should contact us (luyuelab@gmail.com, please reference “postdoc application" in the subject line) with a single PDF file containing a cover letter briefly describing research interests and accomplishments, a CV with a complete list of publications and copies of up to three relevant papers, and names of at least three references.

Graduate Students

Two Ph.D. graduate student positions are available. Applicants are expected to conduct research projects in the areas of micro-nanotechnologies and multiomic analysis. We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated, intellectually curious and have excellent academic achievements in a major field of Chemistry, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, Medicine or a closely related discipline. Please check the admission websites of Molecular Pharmaceutics or Biomedical Engineering for details.
Interested students should contact us ( luyuelab@gmail.com, please reference “PhD application" in the subject line).

Visiting Scholars/Students

We always welcome international visiting scholars/students with aligned research interests. We can be reached at luyuelab@gmail.com ( please reference “Visiting scholars/students application” in the subject line).
